Sometimes at the most recent opened projects of VS2005, I want to clean them, but even I couldn’t find clean option, today I got the way to share with you.
Solution 1:
Manual operation:
1) Delete the most recent opened files:
Run regedit, open HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\VisualStudio\8.0\FileMRUList, then on the right side pane, delete relevant key;
2) Delete the most recent opened projects
The operation is same as above, just the key position is different: HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\VisualStudio\8.0\ProjectMRUList

Auto cleaning:
A batch process file, save the next codes in the file with .bat extension, then double click to open, then it could clean (completely delete)
@echo off
@REG Delete HKCU\Software\Microsoft\VisualStudio\8.0\FileMRUList /va /f
@REG Delete HKCU\Software\Microsoft\VisualStudio\8.0\ProjectMRUList /va /f
Note: the second line of the codes is to clean the most recent opened file list, the third line is to clean the most opened project list according to your own need.

Method 2: go to registry to find similar key as below and delete it. Be cautious, don’t delete wrong.
VS2003:
HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\VisualStudio\7.1\FileMRUList
HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\VisualStudio\7.1\ProjectMRUList

VS2005:
HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\VisualStudio\8.0\FileMRUList
HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\VisualStudio\8.0\ProjectMRUList
