I have a HP DV6000 laptop, recently, it suddenly failed to read any disc, no matter DVD or CD, all could not be recognized. After reinstalling the driver and restarting system, the failure is still the same, what should I do to solve the problem? Hope your any suggestion and help. Thank you!
The main symptom for laptop DVD-ROM/CD-ROM failure is that error prompts or disc could not be recognized when reading disc. Sometimes disc reading takes a long time and the data could not be read out. The structure of laptop DVD-ROM/CD-ROM is much more precise than desktop’s, besides, some parts like laser head are all loaded on salver together with disc, going inside and exposing outside directly. Therefore, it’s more sensitive to dust and dirt;
Laptop DVD-ROM/CD-ROM often has failure symptom that disc could not read, mostly because of dust. But probably the DVD-ROM/CD-ROM has been used for too long time, of which the laser tube is aging already.
Here’s the solution:
1) Disc damage, then you can first move the disc to other good laptop and try. If other DVD-ROM/CD-ROM could not read the disc either, then we can ensure the disc is broken;
2) For the disc reading failure made by dust, we can wipe the focusing lens surface on the laser head with cotton moisten with little distilled water. Attention, you cannot use alcohol, besides, don’t force too much, and fold the salver until water is dried. In order to avoid dust pollution, when laptop DVD-ROM/CD-ROM is not in use, get disc out and close salver.
