Q:
Few days ago, my colleague wanted to update BIOS for his N400c, and in order to start from U disk, so I helped to download a make refresh tool from HP. And then comes the problem: the machine could work normally as thought before, refresh is carried out, a timer shows up, and the laptop restarts. After this, fan stops rotating immediately, three LED light marks: A, 1 and downward arrow, are all gone. But I thought these natural and went have a coffee.
10 minutes later, nothing changed, so I tried disconnecting the power for laptop. Whereas, the power button had no response at all. I pulled out the power and push the power button again. Finally the computer started, but again here came the state as described above.
At this moment, I began hating myself. So I started searching on Google, hoping that I was not the only lucky guy in the world.
Now the first question is: the BIOS file from HP is 1024kb, and the BIOS WPH needed is of 512 kb. However, now even I press all combinations, like Fn+B or Win+B, there would not be any beep sound or attempt visiting disk.
I might need parallel port jumper, but I don’t know how to get one, or which pin of N400c could connect to the simulation 1. Possibly, the recovery job doesn’t fit N400c, or it doesn’t support disk, but USB disk?
I hope here someone could give me a right direction, or just let me know if I could handle the problem or not.
Thank for any help!
